Ingredients

Barley
Water

Potatoes
cubed
1
Onion
chopped (optional)
Sausage
Slovenian, sliced
Salt
to taste
Pepper
to taste
Instructions
Soak the barley overnight, making sure to cover by about 2 inches of water.
Drain the barley and place in a large pot.
Cover with about 3 cups of water and simmer for 1 hour (covered).
Prepare the remaining ingredients… chop the onion and slice the sausage,
Add this to the pot and cook for another hour or until all ingredients are tender.
Season with salt and pepper.
