Makes 3 cups.
Keep icing covered with a damp cloth until ready for use. Refrigerate when not in use. Keeps for up to 2 weeks in airtight container. Rewhip before using.
Wilton Buttercream Icing Variations:
For pure white icing and stiffer consistency, omit butter and add ½ cup All-Vegetable Shortening and ½ tsp Wilton Butter Extract.
To thin icing, add 2 tbl more Milk or Corn Syrup per recipe.
To stiffen, chill icing or add more Confectioners Sugar.
For chocolate icing, add ¾ cup unsweetened Chocolate or 3 1 oz melted unsweetened Chocolate squares plus 2 tbl Milk per recipe. Mix well.
